It’s New Year’s Day – a point in the year when it’s hard to work out what day of the week it is (even when you’re not hung over) and what you were doing this time last week and how much you’ve packed into the last two weeks – which seem like two months – or what life was about before the “Christmas Season” began. It’s a sort of forced detachment from life in a 2-week break of unreality and floating around in time. (At least it is for me).
(It’s also frightening to think that life has not in fact stopped but will relentlessly forge ahead again – at least by Monday (or for me by Sunday) ).
Sometimes such breaks can allow new ideas and perspectives to surface in our minds. So did you learn anything from the Christmas Season or from the break? Did you have time to reflect on anything? Has anything become clearer to you – either at a personal level or about our church?
