Wow this is controversial. According to the BBC website, the worlds oldest bible, that has been split up until now, is being put back together and put on the internet. Sound wierd? Here’s the link to the article on the BBC website.

Apparently …
- There are thousands of differences to the bible we know today
- It had been hidden for 1500 years
- It has 2 extra books to our Bible
Interesting!
The tone of the BBC article is a bit sceptical and I’d encourage everyone to read through the comments. My favourite comment is this one:
“Asking Bart Ehrman for objective comment on Biblical matters is rather like asking Sarah Palin to provide a Presidential job appraisal for Barack Obama.”
Although this is the oldest “collection” if scriptures there are much older ‘books’ in existence and most of the inconsistances it ponts out are well documented and referred to in the foot notes of our Church bibles !!
I agree with Ally, the tone of the BBC article is sceptical.
Although I personally don’t believe in the “inerrancy” of scripture – as far as I know, many who do will not be too bothered by this, as their belief is in God to provide them with a clear message, and not in the “facts” themselves. “Facts” can be very confusing.
On the matter that the bible is not a clear source of information from a factual point of view, as Ally points out, the documentation in our Bibles clearly reflect this, and take it into account.
Anyway doesn’t the Catholic Bible have 5 more books in than the protestant Bible?
